If an animal asks for an update of Mare Control or you see the message in someone's Mare Control that an update is available, [[File:Get update.png|thumb]] please be advised to take the following steps for a succesful update procedure:
* click the button labelled Get Update
* the menu will show you a confirmation message and the option to cancel

* click button "Update!"
* an update of the current settings and owner will be transferred to the database, the chat will show a message like: ''Mare Control: A backup of the current settings is created and the most recent version of Mare Control will be sent to the animal now. Please be patient for a moment.''
* after this is done, the most recent version of Mare Control is sent directly to the animal. You should tell them to check their inventory and let you know when they have received it. They should detach the old one and attach the new version.
* when you access their Mare Control menu again you'll see this menu
